Hi everyone, I'm new here. I'm in my 20s and only discovered two months ago that I have had aspergers my entire life. I'm seeing a specialist for the third time tomorrow, I'm hoping I'll be diagnosed soon.
Just an update as I've been up all night since yesterday morning (the day of my 3rd visit to see my specialist) and having such a rough trot with sleeping properly, I have nothing better to do. I'm officially diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome Smile hooray I'll have the formal report next week. My specialist has amazed me throughout the entire process, well my amazement is processed in retrospect. There is some strangeness in that clinic, maybe it's like encountering a personality you're never likely to encounter in life (or wouldn't realize that to such extents). What I mean is, have any of you felt kinda exposed in there with experienced autism specialists? or that normally well hidden parts of yourself, such as traits of Asperger's, become more prominent despite the interaction seeming completely normal to 'you'?
eh, I quit smoking on the way home yesterday. I'm going to have a try at getting some sleep everyone.

Kind regards,
wonderboy
Hi there and welcome to Autismforums, I'm SmallGrayBox... weird user name with an even weirder explanation to it, so most call me SGB Smile We've threads on just about everything... My interests are photography and DJing. with a whole lot more odd interests besides, like magnets and. But most of my time is spent at the computer updating my DeviantArt page and uploading photos of interesting places to Google Earth Smile

Happy Posting Smile
Nice to meet you Smile
What is you interests or special subject interest. Although I've mentioned I like DJing I'm very much a beginner and My photography is much better then my DJing... which is ironic as I'm partly blind lol
I'm into a variety of things now that I tend to bounce between. My lastest addition is psychology, writing precedes that so I suppose psychology is an extension of my interest in writing. I'm not writing much at the moment as I have a number of books that I'm looking at reading first. And besides, I like the interaction I get online Smile I like language so I suppose my interest in reading and writing, and even psychology are an extension of that! My understanding of philosophy led me into psychology which brought about my realization of having Asperger's syndrome. Some of my other interests have included collecting things, extreme sports, and chess (something I might take on again as a full time occupation - yet again).
I was interested in learning the DJ trade but I couldn't afford it at the time; instead, I bought a portable record player and a new needle (thankfully it used a 'conical' one), a stack of old records, and had all the noise effects of manipulating the speed and direction of the music. I don't mind photography either, although, I think I'm kinda desensitized to images through tv and the like when I was younger rendering all but the most vivid depiction meaningless to me.
